Who We Are

Ghiras Al-Nahda is a Nonprofit Non-governmental humanitarian organization working to empower people through fulfilling their basic needs and seeking to improve Syrian community stability and resilience.

Education

Based on the importance of education and its status as one of the most crucial strategic priorities, Ghiras Al Nahda has supported the education sector in all its fields through numerous projects that secure opportunities for good and equitable education for both males and females in its areas of operation. We have equipped and rehabilitated schools and educational centers, and provided aid to students by supplying them with educational necessities, in addition to supporting teachers. We focus on supporting qualitative projects to enhance the educational process through training courses. Ghiras Al Nahda is moving forward with serious steps to achieve safe access to schools for children and educational staff, in addition to increasing the quality of learning through various activities and strengthening the capacity of the educational system in the best possible ways, despite the harsh and difficult circumstances of the war. Key Achievements Supporting Teachers and the Community Structure: This includes training teachers, providing them with monthly salaries for one year, and supplying them with educational resources. To support the community structure, we conduct campaigns to encourage a return to school and manage parent meetings to stimulate communication between families, teachers, and students. Supporting Students: This is done by supporting accelerated learning classes, enabling those who were out of school to catch up, in addition to supporting formal and non-formal education and distributing school supplies to students. Furthermore, we provide them with psychological support through carefully designed activities and recreational tools. We also offer relief support to students for their health safety, such as hygiene kits and nutritious meals. Supporting Schools: This is achieved by rehabilitating schools and repairing their facilities to be able to accommodate people with special needs, equipping them with solar energy and securing their operational costs, establishing child-friendly spaces within them, and providing them with safety and security equipment.

Protection

Ghiras Al Nahda focuses its activities on the full respect for the rights of all individuals in accordance with International Humanitarian Law and Refugee Law. In times of war, what affected people need most is protection from violence, exploitation, abuse, and attacks on their dignity and rights. One of the most important priorities of the Ghiras Al Nahda organization is the protection of vulnerable groups in society by providing diverse programs for their psychological, material, and social support, such as supporting and establishing psychological and social support centers for affected and distressed children and women, in addition to sponsoring the families of the missing and disappeared, and children who have lost one or both parents. Ghiras constantly seeks to ensure an up-to-date understanding of the nature of groups at risk and the existing dangers and threats. It takes these risks into account in several ways, such as: Considering the vulnerabilities and sensitivities of the target groups in programs and projects. Ensuring the participation of all groups. Considering the safety of people. Recognizing potential protection risks in programs and projects. By doing so, we observe the fundamentals of protection, in addition to mainstreaming protection principles across all sectors of the organization's work to achieve the maximum positive impact of the programs and projects, and to ensure that projects are based on safety and dignity, meaningful access, accountability, participation, and empowerment.

Shelter & Non-Food Items

Ghiras Al-Nahda Under Shelter sector seeks to secure basic necessities of life for both displaced people and host community by rehabilitating their homes and providing them with their need of NFIs including furniture, Kitchen kits, Hygiene kits, in addition to stoves and heating fuel. Food Security and Livelihoods

Ghiras Al-Nahda and through its food security programs work to improve the food security situation through food items distribution, relief kitchens, and seasonal campaigns in addition to agricultural programs, livestock programs, and livelihood programs that contribute to achieving self-sufficiency and secure job opportunities for the affected population. Regular Campaigns

Ghiras Al-Nahda organization has been working on several campaigns annually to support specific sectors during emergencies in Syria since 2011. Our Regular campaigns aim to contribute to alleviating the suffering of vulnerable families and extend them a helping hand. Our campaigns can be seasonal as some are related to weather, others are related to religious and social events that are part of the Arabic and Islamic culture.

Emergency Response

Ghiras Al-Nahda organization has been working on several campaigns annually to support specific sectors during emergencies in Syria in the past eight years. Our emergency response to the dire needs in areas that are exposed to humanitarian disasters as a result of bombing or displacement, or those that are exposed to severe emergency weather conditions.
